Backpacking Happy Hour

It is so great to get done with a long day of hiking and have wine, cheese and crackers on-hand to enjoy in some beautiful setting. I usually try to be healthy in my day-to-day life and go easy on the cheese, crackers and alchohol but it is such a nice, guilt-free treat to have when backpacking.

My HH set up includes the following:

Cheese: I go for hard cheeses because they keep the best on the trail and weather heat better than light cheeses. Kerrygold Grass Fed Dubliner is my go-to, but I will branch out and try others too.

Crackers: My favorite is the Edward & Sons Black Sesame Brown Rice Snaps because they are a little lighter and don't cause me to get full before dinner, but Triscuits are also great - especially for bigger days where you know you will be extra hungry.

Canned wine: A sparkling rose in the outdoors hits the spot and if I get to camp early enough, I will stick my can in a close-by stream/river/lake to chill it before drinking. Recently, my favorite has been the 14 Hands Winery Unicorn Sparkling Rose, followed closely by UNDERWOOD's Sparkling Rose.

Ultralight happy hour kit: A picnic mat, knife, cutting board and a bowl. Most of these items can be found in our Hiker's Picnic Set!
